You are what you eat — so let it be wild, beautiful & full of heart.
Made BY this community FOR this community—
The Wild Knead was born in Ladner, British Columbia by Founder and Head Maker, Charlie Holiday.
For Charlie, the heart of The Wild Knead is more than bread — it’s community. This started as her baking single loaves for people to share her heart and love—to create connection during a season of healing and rebirthing into a new phase in life. Through the craft of sourdough and the joy of sharing food, she found the sense of belonging her soul had always been hungry for. Every loaf carries her deep love and joy of feeding people, the spirit of connection, and the simple pleasure of breaking bread together.

The Story of The Wild Knead
For the last twenty years, I lived in big cities—always moving fast, always chasing the next thing—while quietly longing for something different. Deep down, I craved a return to my roots: a smaller town, a slower rhythm, and a life woven with community and nature.
For 15 years, I poured my heart into my career as a legacy and leadership coach, helping others step into their dreams. But somewhere along the way, I realized I had been guiding people toward the very thing I had been putting off for myself. It was time to take my own advice.
That’s when I let myself follow a passion that had been quietly alive in me for years: finding joy in the kitchen. Not just something I was good at—but something I felt truly gifted in. I started with folk music playing, windows open, and my bare feet on the floor as I kneaded dough and prepared all kinds of beautiful creations to share with people I loved and some people I just met. There was bliss and peace in the rhythm, creativity in the craft, and healing in the simple act of sharing loaves with friends.
What began with two loaf pans and a handful of care packages to friends and neighbors has blossomed into The Wild Knead—a micro-bakery supplying fresh artisanal sourdough goods and delicacies to this incredible community of South Delta, as well as retail locations at beloved local spots like Schoolhouse Farm and Superior Fish Market, with many more on the way.
Every loaf is more than bread—it’s a piece of my heart. It’s about creating something with my hands, putting in an honest day’s work, and knowing that what I make adds a moment of pleasure to someone’s day. That joy keeps me rooted here, doing what I love, and building the kind of life I once only dreamed about.
Our ingredients
We always use unbleached, preservative and additive free flour in all recipes. Our starter, Jolene, is a 150 year old starter developed lovingly over the last 2 years and she is a POWERHOUSE. Other ingredients we use including herbs for specialty breads, the eggs in our pasta, and even the maple sugar we dust on some desserts are from local farms and markets. As much as we can support local in every recipe, we do.
